Ford Philippines Launches 2018 Mustang Line-Up (With Video)

Now available with a manual and as a convertible for the first time.

Ford Philippines has officially unveiled the refreshed Mustang at the 2018 Manila International Auto Show, which is now available in four variants, including the sporty Mustang convertible for the first time.

The new Mustang’s new looks are conveyed through a sharp, yet aggressive new design that stays true to its long-standing heritage. New for this refresh are functional air extractor hood vents and a lowered hood line, which results in a sleek, fluid look. Up front, there are new LED foglamps and LED headlamps with signature lighting complementing the redesigned LED tri-bar tail lamps. A revised rear diffuser acts as a wake modifier, while the front lower splitter accentuates the Mustang’s performance capabilities. The 2.3 liter EcoBoost variant has a dual bright exhaust with rolled tips, while the 5.0 liter V8 GT utilizes a quad tip dual exhaust.

Inside the Mustang are new design details that accentuate the car’s performance capabilities. It features a seamless blend of refined materials, which Ford says is “producing a dynamic and performance felt environment”. All variants are equipped as standard with a laminated acoustic windshield, steering wheel mounted cruise and audio controls, plus a 12-inch TFT LCD digital gauge cluster, which allows drivers to select and save certain settings.

Powering the Mustang are two engine choices. The 2.3 liter EcoBoost produces 310 hp and 474 Nm of torque, while the 5.0 liter V8 produces 460 hp and 569 Nm of torque. Power is sent through the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission, or for the first time ever, a 6-speed manual that’s exclusive to the 5.0 V8 GT convertible. Ford says its new 10-speed SelectShift automatic with paddle shifters is “the best automatic that the Mustang has ever offered.”

There are new features in the Mustang that further improve the driving experience. The Mustang now has a Magneride Damping System. Through electronically-controlled shock absorbers and cutting-edge electromagnetic based damper technology, this system enables a nearly instantaneous adjustment of the suspension every 7 milliseconds, which Ford says results in a “smooth ride quality, impeccable handling, and very flat cornering on highway or track environments.”

The 5.0 V8 GT also comes with Active Valve Performance Exhaust. Drivers are able to select between four exhaust modes, which are Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Track. The exhaust technology is backed by electronically-controlled butterfly valves that open up for performance and volume, and then close during cruising.

The Mustang is also now equipped with active driver safety aids designed to help driving safer and more convenient, and these features include the new Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. A rear view camera also comes as standard for safer and more convenient operation of the vehicle when backing up.

The new Mustang is available at Ford dealerships nationwide at the following prices.

2.3 EcoBoost AT Fastback: P2,798,000
5.0 V8 GT AT Fastback: P3,478,000
5.0 V8 GT MT Convertible: P3,578,000
