The facelifted 2022 MG ZS subcompact crossover SUV has officially landed in the Philippines with a new design, more features, and a new turbo gasoline engine for the first time.
For 2022, the ZS is now officially called the MG ZS T. One fully-loaded variant will be sold, and it comes with a sportier front end. The grille now looks more distinct with its hexagonal shape and sporty Obsidian Matrix mesh design. Flanking it are a pair of new LED headlight clusters. There’s also a new front bumper that looks sportier compared to the previous model.
The side profile largely remains unchanged, apart from its new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. Moving towards the back, and we see a sportier rear bumper and a new set of LED taillights that mimic the design of the headlight clusters. There’s also a bit less body cladding compared to the pre-facelift model.
MG also improved upon the ZS’s interior. There’s an increased amount of soft-touch plastics and a whole lot of red stitching details. As standard, the sole ZS T comes with a large 10.1-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a fully digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, panoramic sunroof, black and red leather seats with an embossed MG logo on the headrests, just to name a few.
Powering the 2022 MG ZS T is a 1.3-liter inline-3 turbo gasoline engine that produces 160 hp and 230 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels via an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic.
Apart from the new engine, the MG ZS T gains a couple of advanced driver-assist tech, ranging from a 360-degree camera, and a new blind spot warning.
The 2022 MG ZS T is now on sale in the Philippines with a price tag of P1,158,888. The pre-facelift, non-turbo MG ZS will continue to be sold unchanged for the 2022 model year. As a reminder, the base MT Style starts at P818,888, the AT Style for P868,888, and the AT Alpha for P998,888.
