Honda 0 α (Alpha) Set To Be A Global Entry-Level Electric SUV

The Honda 0 α looks like the 0 SUV pre-production prototype, but we assure you, it's a different, much smaller and more affordable model.

Honda has used the 2025 Japan Mobility Show to reveal the 0 α (Alpha). But wait, hasn’t this car been revealed in concept form earlier this year already? Well, not quite. You see, that was the Honda 0 SUV, and this is the Honda 0 α, which is smaller than the 0 SUV.

But they look the same, you might be asking? I promise you, though they look the same, this is actually a much smaller compact electric SUV. See the rear portion? It lacks the quarter window behind the rear doors of the 0 SUV. Instead, the compact dimensions are closer to the HR-V and ZR-V than it is to the CR-V or Passport.

Anyway, other design cues that differentiate the 0 α include its front end, whose more chiseled front bumper is coupled with full-width LED headlights (the 0 SUV has separate LED headlight units). Likewise, the side profile is very similar to the 0 SUV, apart from the lack of a third quarter window, while the rear end maintains the Honda 0 family’s signature U-shaped full-width LED taillights. Only this time, the rear bumpers look slightly more chunky, while the tailgate is black instead of body colored.

Though the Honda 0 α looks similar to the 0 SUV, we don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing, since we’re fans of how the 0 SUV looked. For now, the interior remains under wraps, and so are its other technical details. The thing is, the electric vehicle (EV) market is drastically different today than when the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV were first revealed, but despite Honda deliberately delaying its EV rollout due to changing global EV demand, it’s still good to see the company not abandoning the development of its 0 Series lineup.

The Honda 0 α is set to be an entry-level global electric SUV by 2027, with its primary markets being Japan and India.
