When we first drove the Mazda CX-60 back in 2023, our expectations were very high. After all, with a premium rear-wheel drive (RWD) architecture and an inline-six, the ambition was clear–Mazda was moving upmarket. Unfortunately, the initial release of the Mazda CX-60 was met with negative feedback from its ride and not-so-smooth eight-speed automatic. That 2026 Mazda CX-60 heavily improves upon those niggles, thanks to comprehensive suspension, transmission, and refinement updates.
Ride And Handling Improvements
Mazda says that the ride experience has been significantly enhanced, with no sacrifice to the first-rate driving experience, and based on our long drive from Laguna to Baguio City, we now think that this was indeed the CX-60 that Mazda probably intended to release. The rear suspension now has softer rear springs and new bump stops for improved compliance, while the dampers with increased rebound rates help control vertical motion. The front suspension features dampers with firmer front compression rates and relocated front knuckle mounts for better stability, especially on rough roads. A recalibrated steering and stability system also improves overall balance.
A Smoother Eight-Speed Auto
The eight-speed automatic with a multi-plate clutch, as opposed to a torque converter has also been improved in the new CX-60. Clutch control and hydraulic valve improvements result in even smoother and more responsive combustion-engine-to-electric motor transitions and a wider gear range for the best balance of enjoyable driving dynamics and environmental performance.
More Refined, Yet Still Sporty
The cabin continues to set new standards for interior quality, design, and technology. New on the CX-60 are additional refinements to its already impressive levels of moise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). The sound insulator material used on the dashboard is thicker and denser, with increased coverage that now includes the upper part of the cowl. The same is applied to the trunk side trim, which has increased sound insulation coverage compared to before. A new steering column joint and reinforced doors also reduce unwanted interior vibrations.
Engine choices for the 2026 Mazda CX-60 remain unchanged. These are still the 3.3-liter inline-six-cylinder engines that we adore so much, and they continue to be available in both gasoline and diesel variants. The gasoline unit produces 284 hp and 450 Nm, while the diesel unit offers 254 horsepower and 550 Nm. Both engines utilize the M Hybrid technology with a 48-volt hybrid system and a lithium-ion battery pack.
The interior design concept steadfastly puts focus on the highest level of Japanese craftsmanship and ergonomics. The wide instrument panel has continuous lines that run through the cabin, while the horizontally symmetrical layout is centered around the driver to deliver the same carefully considered cockpit design.
The two variants on sale still feature three main displays—a 12.3-inch fully digital driver’s instrument panel, a 12.3-inch Mazda Connect center display, and a 10.4-inch heads-up display. Both variants also offer a frameless auto-dimming rear-view mirror, front seat ventilation, wireless charging, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control with rear vents. The gasoline variant features aluminum and silver metallic accents and a black Nappa Leather interior. The diesel version, meanwhile, offers graphite and gun metal accents, along with tan Nappa Leather upholstery with quilted Leganu suede inserts.
The latest generation Mazda Connect allows passengers to connect wirelessly via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a 12-speaker Bose Sound system delivers expanded liveliness and reinforced low pitch for a full auditory experience.
From the outisde, all 2026 Mazda CX-60 variants feature 20-inch wheels with a two-tone finish for the gasoline variant, and an all-black finish for the diesel. Speaking of the diesel, the black wheels are complemented by dark chrome exterior trims, while the gasoline variant focuses on a more elegant aesthetic with its chrome exterior trims.
The 2026 Mazda CX-60 is now on sale in the Philippines with the following prices:
- CX-60 3.3 Turbo HEV – P2,890,000
- CX-60 3.3 Turbo-D Sport HEV – P2,990,000
The price is inclusive of a 5-year maintenance plan which covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals, for up to 5 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. This is on top of a 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 5-year hybrid battery warranty.
“Since its launch in the Philippines, more than 800 CX-60 SUVs have been sold. This makes the Philippines the largest market for the CX-60 in Asia outside of Japan, a testament to it being well-received by Filipino buyers,” said Steven Tan, President and CEO of Mazda Philippines. “The new CX-60 enriches that by offering new refinements, making it even more unmatched in every way. These are much more than skin-deep, and are part of our commitment to continuous improvement.”
