SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, adds a more affordable variant of its recently-launched X1 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Say hello to the BMW X1 xDrive25e xLine, which offers a more rugged design versus the sporty looks of the recently-launched M Sport version.
Like the X1 xDrive25e M Sport, this model’s plug-in hybrid system combines a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder with an electric motor with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This delivers a combined system output of 245 horsepower and 477 Nm of torque, distributed through a hybrid-specific BMW xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
This permanent all-wheel-drive solution ensures optimum traction and directional stability by precisely managing power between the front and rear wheels, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds. With its advanced battery technology, the BMW X1 plug-in hybrid also offers an impressive electric-only range of up to 102 kilometers (WLTP), making it ideal for daily urban commutes.
Beyond performance, the new BMW X1 plug-in hybrid xLine is equipped with the BMW Driving Assistant as standard. This includes features such as advanced Collision and Lane Change Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, among others. In typical BMW fashion, the X1 plug-in hybrid xLine comes with the Parking Assistant, which includes a Reversing Assist Camera and Active Park Distance Control.
Now, as for its exterior design, the X1 plug-in hybrid xLine focuses on a more rugged aesthetic. Instead of the M Sport’s body-colored cladding, the xLine swaps those for matte black ones. They are matched with various satin silver accents, 18-inch light alloy wheels, and adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assist. Moving towards the interior, the cabin is finished in plush yet robust materials, such as Veganza perforated vegan leather upholstery. Some of its special features include a wireless charging pad, power adjustment for the front seats, and a powered tailgate. What the xLine ditches from the M Sport is the Harman Kardon sound system.
As for the other tech features, the BMW X1 plug-in hybrid xLine still features the BMW Live Cockpit Plus, which consists of a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch widescreen display powered by the latest iDrive Operating System 9. This comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with the BMW ConnectedDrive telematics services. BMW ConnectedDrive includes remote vehicle monitoring through the smartphone, as well as the ability to activate remote-based features, such as remote start, remote locking, and unlocking the vehicle.
The new BMW X1 plug-in hybrid xLine is available in a sophisticated range of eight striking colors, which include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Dune Grey, Cape York Green, Space Silver, Night Dusk Blue, and Fire Red. This new, rugged version of the X1 plug-in hybrid retails for P3,398,000–a P600,000 difference from the M Sport version. Included with the vehicle is a portable flexi charger, a 5-year comprehensive BMW warranty (or 200,000km, whichever comes first), and an 8-year warranty for the electric battery (or 120,000 km, whichever comes first).
