Though the Mazda CX-5 was already on sale in the Philippines since April 2012, it was missing something. Unlike it’s competitors, it did not have an AWD option along with a 2.5 liter engine option. This year, Berjaya Auto Philippines, the official distributor of Mazda in the country, has released to the public, the new CX-5 2.5 AWD Sport.
New features which are exclusive to the 2.5 AWD Sport include:
HID headlamps with Auto Levelling, Auto On/Off, AFS Adaptive Front Light System and High Beam Assist
Blind Sport Monitoring
Lane Departure Warning
i-STOP Start/Stop System
Bose Premium Sound System
Black Leather Seats
Sunroof
Reverse Camera with Parking Sensors
19 inch alloy wheels
Of course, we won’t forget about the 2.5 liter SKYACTIV-G engine that produces 188 hp and 250 Nm of torque with direct injection, and typical to Mazda’s SKYACTIV engines, it’s all courtesy of a high compression ratio of 13:1. Very well equipped right? As amazing as all these features are, the pricing is even more amazing. At PHP 1,685,000, it’s even cheaper than the top spec variants of the Subaru Forester and the overpriced Toyota RAV4. Though it costs more than a top spec Honda CR-V, the CX-5 AWD Sport has more toys and goodies than the CR-V.
