The Suzuki Ertiga is based on the small Swift hatchback’s platform, but stretched to an extent where third row seating becomes suffice. Its exterior design certainly has some hints of the Swift, which certainly isn’t a bad thing, since the Swift is a good looking small hatchback in the first place. A long wheelbase translates to a bigger passenger space. Add to that a sliding second row seat, the Suzuki Ertiga has an advantage when it comes to passenger space flexibility. The trunk space, however, is smaller than some of its rivals with the third row seats in place.

Power is provided by the same K14B 1.4 liter petrol engine from the Swift. It produces 95 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. Power is delivered via a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

All units are shipped from Maruti Suzuki’s plant in India, just like the Suzuki DZire, a sedan version of the Swift hatchback. Pricing starts at P619,000 for the GA variant, which is the base model with steel wheels, power windows only at the front, a 1-DIN stereo, and manual door locks. The middle variant is the GL, which costs P712,000 for the manual or P752,000 for the 4-speed automatic, adds ABS with EBD, an integrated 2-DIN head unit, second row headrests, 3 point seatbelts for the second row, and alloy wheels. The top of the range GLX costs P812,000 and receives keyless entry, steering wheel controls, foglights, and a rear wiper.
