Toyota will soon be launching the facelifted Vios in the Philippines, which uses the same fascia as the Yaris, but one of our readers was able to capture the facelifted Vios out in the open, probably undergoing testing and calibration for Philippine roads.
Our reader named Mickel Majarais sent us these photos, and there’s no denying that this is the facelifted Toyota Vios. Prior to our initial guesses, it seems Toyota brought in the Yaris Ativ. When it was launched in Bangkok last year, it had a small 1.2 liter VVT-i engine, as the Yaris Ativ was designed for Thailand’s Eco Car program, but it seems this is the 2019 Vios that the rest of the ASEAN region will be receiving.
Singapore became the first country outside Thailand to receive the new Vios utilizing the Yaris Ativ’s body. For the Singaporean market, it is powered by the same 1.5 liter Dual VVT-i engine that’s also in the current generation Vios. For the Philippine market, it’ll most likely retain the same 1.3 liter and 1.5 liter Dual VVT-i engines, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. The 1.3 liter produces 99 Ps and 123 Nm, while the 1.5 produces 108 Ps and 140 Nm of torque.
