Saying that the Toyota Vios is a very important car for Toyota is an understatement. Not only is it the brand’s top selling vehicle, but it’s also the country’s top selling vehicle, though for 2017, it was dethroned by the Toyota Fortuner. Nevertheless, the Vios represents a huge chunk of the automotive market. It’s so huge, in fact, that if the Vios were to be a brand of its own, it would be the 3rd most popular car brand in the Philippines.
Last Saturday, one of our readers named Myk Belmonte was able to snap a few photos of the comprehensively revised Toyota Vios while it’s out in the open at Bonifacio Global City.
Even if we think that the Toyota Vios would already sell on its own even if Toyota were not to advertise the vehicle, the brand has decided to host a music festival this July 28, 2018, at the Filinvest City Event Grounds.
Called the Toyota Music Fest, this one-of-a-kind event will feature some of the country’s top musical bands, ranging from Ely Buendia, Parokya Ni Edgar, Hale, Silent Sanctuary, IV Of Spades, The Ransom Collective, and more. The best part of all this? The epic musical fest will all be for FREE! Unfortunately, if you want to avail the tickets, you may or may not be aware that all tickets have been sold out. 120,000 people have logged into Toyota’s website when the two batches of tickets were being given out to those lucky enough to log in and get into the queue, but of course, the Filinvest Concert Grounds can only handle as much.
First launched in Thailand back in August 2017, the refreshed Vios, which is called the Yaris Ativ in Thailand, features a comprehensive refresh that now bears the same face as the refreshed Toyota Yaris. The rear fascia, meanwhile, also gets a completely new look, with more swoopy tail lights and smart design cues.
Inside, the Vios also shares the same interior as the refreshed Toyota Yaris. Expect engines to be similar to the Yaris, too. It’ll most likely retain the same 1.3 liter and 1.5 liter Dual VVT-i engines, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. The 1.3 liter produces 99 Ps and 123 Nm, while the 1.5 produces 108 Ps and 140 Nm of torque.
