2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Offers Both Open Top Dynamism And Long Distance Comfort

Blast through continents in open top pleasure with the new Continental GT Convertible.

Bentley has taken the veil off its new Continental GT Convertible, which is the open-top variant of the Continental GT gran tourer.

Like the coupe, the convertible model features the same exterior design that has been inspired from the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept. The shape is likewise much more rakish and dynamic compared to the Continental GT C is replaces. The Continental GT Convertible’s profile has been made longer, lower, and wider, making the Continental GT Convertible more planted on the road. Its longer hood and longer nose provide the luxury gran tourer a more balanced weight distribution. The tail lights however, feature the biggest departure from traditional Bentley design cues, featuring a pair of elliptical tail lights that reflect the shape of the exhaust.

The interior, meanwhile, features only the absolute best there is for materials. Everything is either wrapped in leather, wood, or knurled metal finishes. The wooden inlays are sourced using sustainable methods, and the entire wood inlays used in the interior require nine hours of careful craftsmanship. The high resolution TFT LCD gauge cluster and infotainment display offer sharp quality images that are said to be comparable to a flagship smartphone. If the central infotainment display isn’t in use, it can be rotated with a push of a button, revealing a wood panel the blends with the dashboard. Additionally, the rotating panel also has a third face, in which Bentley has added three analogue dials displaying outside temperature, a compass, and a chronometer.

Under the hood of the Bentley Continental GT Convertible is the brand’s familiar 6.0-liter W12 engine, producing 626 hp and 900 Nm of torque. Power is sent through all four wheels via an 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. 0-100 kph is achieved in 3.7 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 333 kph.

Thanks to a 48-volt electrical system, the Bentley Continental GT Convertible is equipped with Bentley Dynamic Ride, which is an air suspension system that controls the electronic actuators and anti-roll bar of each axle. Despite its weight, the system is able to completely eliminate any body roll when the vehicle corners, thereby improving ride comfort and handling. Because of the 48-volt system, there is no delay as to when the system responds to the conditions of the road.
