Ford Philippines is stepping up its efforts to make a difference in the communities with a financial donation to Gawad Kalinga to help support farmers affected by Typhoon Ompong.
The US$25,000 funding, made possible by a Global Giving grant, will provide livelihood opportunities to 30 farmers and their families to help them get back from their losses from the onslaught of the typhoon. The farmers take care of hectares of land and the grant will give them and their families access to a decent and more productive life.
“At the heart of rebuilding hope are the people who need to get back on their feet. At Ford Philippines, we strive to contribute to nation-building by providing grants that make a long-lasting impact to the communities in need. At the core of these grants is sustainability, ensuring that the funding will help change more lives for the better, now and in the years to come,” says Josie Gonzalez, AVP for Government and Corporate Affairs, Ford Philippines.
The funding will also be used to purchase two (2) boats to be used in future relief operations as well as to ferry students living in the remote areas to their schools.
