2019 Toyota Camry Arrives In The Philippines With P1.806M Starting Price

The new Camry is now a much more dynamic and assertive executive sedan.

After releasing a teaser a couple of weeks ago, Toyota Motor Philippines has finally launched the all-new generation of its flagship sedan in the Philippine market, the Toyota Camry. It now sheds its “tito” image, as this new model is now going for a more assertive and edgier character, stance, and design.

From the outside, this all-new Camry completely sheds the traditional three-box design that all Camrys have been known for, replacing it is a much sleeker and curvier design. Chief Designer Akira Kubota calls the Camry’s design theme as “Sensual-Smart Confidence”—an approach which seamlessly melds the athletic accents in the sheet metal with a sleek and modern body shape—creating an emotional design. The overall design is characterized by a long hood, short rear deck design gives it a very dynamic profile, making the Camry appear to have rear-wheel drive proportions. Its low and wide stance makes it look more dynamic than any Camry that preceded it. The 18-inch alloy wheels fitted to all variants, coupled with the LED headlights and LED tail lights give the Camry an elegant and sophisticated look.

The Toyota Camry is also the first ever vehicle in the local Toyota line-up to utilize the brand’s latest Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) scalable architecture, which will underpin many of the brand’s future vehicles. The new platform promises to offer a more dynamic driving experience coupled with a comfortable and refined ride thanks to a stiffer structure that makes the new Camry sturdier and more stable out on the open road.

The interior is also a massive departure from previous generations. It now follows a driver oriented asymmetrical layout. A mixture of soft touch plastics, leather, faux wood trims, and satin silver accents give the Camry a premium feel. The Camry now has the ability to automatically adjust the seats and mirrors according to the preferences set with the corresponding key. Elsewhere, there’s blue ambient LED lighting located in strategic places in the interior, as well as a large head-up display, the first ever for the Toyota Camry. Back seat passengers are treated to unparalleled levels of luxury, thanks to the three-zone climate control, butterfly head rests, as well as the capacitive touch panel located in the rear center armrest that controls the rear sunshade, entertainment, and climate settings.

Under the hood of the all-new Toyota Camry is the 2AR-FE 2.5-liter inline-4 Dual VVT-i engine, which has been carried over from the previous generation model. It produces 184 hp and 231 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. As the brand is now focusing towards an engaging driving experience, the 6-speed automatic has a Highly Responsive Upshift Control and Blipping Downshift Control, both activated in S mode. Basically, the Camry now has the ability to rev match while downshifting, and provides responsive upshifts when using the +/- at the gear lever.

The all-new Camry is also packed with safety features, including 7 airbags, hill start assist, electronic stability control, and an electronic parking brake.

The all-new Toyota Camry goes on sale this December 12, 2018 at all Toyota dealerships nationwide. Pricing for the Camry starts at P1,806,000 for the 2.5 G variant, and 1,992,000 for the 2.5 V variant. Platinum White Pearl paint is a P15,000 option.
