The XE badge was placed on quite a number of Toyotas during the 1990s, representing the mid-spec variant. Whereas Toyotas of today utilize the J, E, G, or V single-letter nomenclature, it seems Toyota Motor Philippines is reviving the XE nameplate for this 2019 Vios.
Being pegged as the value oriented Vios, the Vios XE is indeed the most affordable automatic variant of the popular subcompact sedan. Affordable however does not mean bare. While it does get rid of a few items in order to bring it down to its P735,000 asking price, it kept most modern essentials in place, such as the usual power windows, mirrors, door locks, and even the 7-inch touch screen infotainment system, a necessity for almost every modern driver nowadays.
Like every new Toyota out there, it does not compromise on safety either. Already standard even in the 1.3 Base, the 1.3 XE keeps the plethora of airbags, electronic stability control, and hill start assist, which keeps it in-line with the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program’s (NCAP) 5-star rating for the Vios across the region. This is entry-level specs done right, people! You do not keep safety features exclusive to the highest variants.
“Now more than ever, Filipino drivers will get to experience the comfort of automatic transmission while enjoying all the hallmark features of the Toyota brand,” said TMP First Vice President Cristina Arevalo.
“As a testament to the quality, durability, and reliability of its entire model lineup, Toyota brings together a new variant that combines the signature elements of an enduring automotive icon,”Arevalo added. “And because it’s a Vios, customers can still expect to get the most out of their investment with the high resale value and reasonable maintenance cost that the model has been known for.”
The new Toyota Vios XE comes in four colors: Thermalyte, Red Mica Metallic, Freedom White, and Alumina Jade Metallic. The Vios XE is now available on all dealers nationwide.
