A year since it made its global debut at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show, the new Suzuki Ertiga has made its Philippine debut today, bringing with it more style and better driving dynamics.
Exterior-wise, Suzuki’s designers have created an MPV with more distinct looks than its predecessor. A new hexagonal grille give the car a more dynamic presence. The taller fascia is characterized by a hexagonal grille which are flanked by a pair of projector-type halogen headlights, while the creased hood and deep shoulder lines give the Ertiga’s exterior more character. The rear, meanwhile, receives a pair of vertical LED tail lights that features a Volvo-esque design, while the Ertiga’s more raked rear windshield give the Ertiga a more dynamic silhouette. Power folding mirrors are offered on the GLX variant. Just like many new cars, dimensions have been incrementally increased for more interior room.
Underneath that new and stylish body is Suzuki’s all-new HEARTECT platform, which is shared with the all-new Swift and Dzire. Through the new platform, the Ertiga promises to be stiffer, safer, and more enjoyable to drive than ever before.
Likewise, the interior receives many changes, which starts with the dashboard design. Suzuki’s designers worked hard to give the Ertiga a more premium ambience through the use of faux wood trims for the GLX variant (other variants feature a black finish instead), a flat bottomed steering wheel, and a floating touch screen infotainment system with 8-inches in size as standard, while the GLX features a larger 10-inch touch screen. Both infotainment systems are Android-based. Sliding second row seats are standard on all variants, while the GLX variant features niceties such as ventilated cup holders. Safety-wise, the Suzuki Ertiga has the standard dual SRS airbags as well as ABS with EBD on all variants.
Underneath the Ertiga is a new 1.5 liter inline-4 petrol engine called the K15B. It produces 104 hp and 138 Nm of torque, with power sent through the front wheels via a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.
Among the chief highlights of the new Suzuki Ertiga are its prices, which are all at the affordable end of the spectrum, with no variant priced beyond the million peso mark.
