Spy shots of the popular van from Toyota have circulated over the internet since November of last year, but now it seems that the cat is really out of the bag as the 2020 Toyota Hiace has been caught out in the open in Japan.
Taken by J. Club Legance, an aftermarket shop specializing in the customization of Hiaces in Japan, the all-new Hiace ditches the cab-over design for a cab-forward design.
Rather than having a flat nose, the exterior is now characterized by a much longer hood with the engine now mounted in front rather than under the front seats. This is most likely due to more stringent crash regulations, wherein having a longer nose provides better interior packaging and crash protection. Elsewhere, there’s now an aggressively raked windshield as well as larger front side windows with a rising beltline design. The overall greenhouse is taller, which will sure do wonders with the Hiace’s airy feel for its occupants.
The all-new Hiace is likely to debut very soon, based on the presence of these carriers hauling the Hiace around Japan. Stay tuned to Go Flat Out to find out more
