2019 MIAS: Kia Philippines Stings With The Stinger GT Sports Sedan, Priced At P3.235M

The highly-anticipated Korean sports sedan is finally here.

You asked for it, and now it’s here. Kia Philippines, with its slogan “The Power To Surprise” is clearly at work at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show, and this all has to do with the local unveiling of the all-new Kia Stinger sports sedan. The Kia Stinger is the brand’s first foray into the premium sports sedan market, and the Korean brand has benchmarked cars such as the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The Kia Stinger gets many of its design cues from the Kia GT Concept from 2011. Designed at Kia’s design studio in Frankfurt, Germany, the Stinger GT has the signature long hood, short rear deck proportion that all grand tourers or GTs have been known for. Up front, Kia’s signature “tiger nose” grille takes center stage, which is flanked by a pair of LED headlights. The Kia Stinger has sleek lines and aggressive edges, while the broad shoulders emphasize the Stinger’s sporting intentions. At the rear, the sloping roofline tapers to the integrated rear spoiler, and despite the sedan proportions, it’s actually a liftback.

The windshield and trunk are a single piece, which means not only does it look stylish, but it also provides an extremely large opening for items to easily be loaded inside.

The interior is very premium as well. A mainly wrap-around horizontal layout is clearly seen, giving the driver a sense of intimacy and connection with the vehicle. A large touch screen stands proud in the center of the dash, while a plethora of premium and rich materials envelop multiple surfaces of the interior. Its level of luxury and sportiness is unheard of from the Korean brand. Topping it all off is a multitude of LED ambient lights with configurable colors.

Under the hood of the Kia Stinger is a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 with 370 hp and 510 Nm of torque. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic, sending power to the rear wheels. This powertrain combination enables it to sprint from 0-100 kph in just 4.9 seconds all the way to a top speed of 270 kph.

The Kia Stinger is a premium sports sedan through and through, but the price is a lot more accessible than everyone thinks. Considering it is fully loaded with features to the brim, the Kia Stinger GT is priced to sell, which is at P3,235,000.
