The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) has unveiled the refreshed 2019 Chevrolet Camaro at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show. The launch of the Camaro marks the return of the iconic supercar in the Philippines. First introduced in the country in 2010, the Camaro shows off its aggressive new looks combined with renowned performance and enhanced technology.
As we’ve seen in the teaser sent to the motoring media community a couple of weeks ago, we were spot on to speculate that the Camaro will be launched will be the LT variant (3LT in this case) with the RS appearance package. This means that before we talk about anything else, we should talk about the powertrain first because under its hood is definitely not a V8. Unfortunately, it is not the V6 either. Instead, it uses the base 2.0-liter Ecotec turbocharged and direct injected petrol engine, producing 275 horsepower and 398 Nm of torque. Power is sent through the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Providing stopping power comes courtesy of 4-piston Brembo brakes at the front wheels. This makes the Camaro 3LT RS a direct competitor to the Ford Musta ng 2.3 EcoBoost.
With its sculpted hood, revised front grille with a wider design, plus newly-designed LED headlamps and LED taillamps, the Chevrolet Camaro casts a distinct look on the road. The muscular flanks and wide stance give the Camaro an imposing impression on the road. The RS package that highlights the Camaro’s sporty looks includes a host of aesthetic upgrades, which include a set of 5-spoke 20-inch machined wheels, decklid spoiler, polished honeycomb grille, illuminated Camaro sill plates, RS badge, and black front and rear Chevrolet bowtie emblems.
On the inside, the Camaro continues to utilize a high dashboard design, featuring large gauges with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch MyLink touch screen infotainment system with a 9-speaker Bose sound system, as well as a plethora of driver-focused details. There’s also a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, black leather interior panel, and custom leather-trimmed dashboard and console. There are also sport bucket seats for the driver and front passenger. The driver gets 8-way power adjustment with two-person memory, while the front passenger gets 6-way power adjustment. Both seats, meanwhile, feature seat heating and cooling.
The Camaro 3LT RS also comes with a host of safety features, ranging from electronic stability control, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert, tire pressure monitoring system, as well as a rear-view camera.
The Chevrolet Camaro has a starting price of P3,298,000 for this sole 3LT RS variant and is now available at any of the brand’s 27 dealerships across the nation.
