2019 Toyota Avanza Receives A Fresh New Look And P731,000 Starting Price

The Avanza’s refresh is quite comprehensive, most noticeable being its new fascia, which gives the vehicle a sportier look. A new pair of split-type LED headlamps, which are standard on all but the base 1.3 J variant, seamlessly complement the character lines of the Avanza. At the back, the tail lights and rear fascia have been slightly revised, now featuring faux tail light extensions that connect the tail lights with the chrome garnish. All models receive a sharks-fin type antenna, while a stylish new set of alloy wheels are standard on all but the base 1.3 J variant. Only the 1.5 variants receive front fog lights and side mirror-mounted LED turn signals. The top trim 1.5 Veloz has a different and more aggressive fascia, swapping out the chrome for darker trims.

The interior has also been redesigned, now featuring a more modern dashboard, highlighted by the new digital manual aircon controls. All but the base 1.3 J variant features Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, while only the 1.5 variants feature Bluetooth hands-free and audio connectivity through a 6.8-inch touch screen infotainment system. There are now 12V sockets on the second row of seats in addition to the usual 12V sockets in the center console. All but the base 1.3 J have seven seats, with the second row of seats featuring a sliding and 50/50 split folding mechanism. ABS with EBD, as well as two airbags come as standard on all variants.

Under the hood of the Avanza are two engines across four trim levels. There is a 1.3-liter 1NR-VE engine that produces with 95 hp and 121 Nm of torque and a 1.5-liter 2NR-VE engine producing 103 hp and 136 Nm of torque. Both can be had with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, depending on the variant.
