Mitsubishi has hinted at the ASEAN debut of the refreshed Mitsubishi Montero Sport, teasing us with the Montero Sport’s new, more angular face. Its scheduled unveiling is supposed to be on July 25, but it seems someone is already eager to reveal the Montero Sport’s new looks to the rest of the world ahead of its official launch.
The photos, courtesy of Headlight Magazine from Thailand, gives us a clear view of how the 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport now looks like. The Strada-inspired front fascia now transcends into the Montero Sport, though it features a few design cues to set it apart from its pick-up stablemate. In this case, it has a three-bar arrangement, as well as revised headlights and just like the Strada, the foglights have been moved further up the front bumper.
At the rear, the controversial tail lights are still there, but it now has been shortened thanks to the reflectors and rear foglight being moved to the newly designed lower rear bumper garnish. Finally, a new set of alloy wheels should give it a more modern look.
The interior has also been slightly revised, now featuring a new design for the climate control system. Based on the teaser video that was shown last week, the Montero Sport now features a fully digital instrument cluster, though, at this point, we still don’t know whether this will be standard on all variants or not.
Engines should most likely be carried over, still using the 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel engine that produces 181 hp and 430 Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic depending on the variant. Expect the usual 4×2 and 4×4 options to continue being offered as well.
