2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport’s Features Can Be Operated With A Smartphone

After a couple of leaks as well as a set of teasers, the facelifted Mitsubishi Montero Sport (Pajero Sport in Thailand) has finally made its debut, and it brings to the table some pretty advanced tech never before seen in the PPV segment.

As mentioned in previous articles, exterior changes are quite minor but noticeable. The grille is more angular with it being more closely related to the refreshed Strada’s front grille. Apart from that, the fog lights have been relocated to a higher position. At the rear, the revised LED taillights feature a new cluster design and its height has been shortened. This is due to the reflectors being moved to the faux skid plates at the rear. Lastly, new alloy wheels designs give the Montero Sport a modern and edgier look.

The interior sees quite an upgrade in terms of features. As mentioned in previous articles, the Montero Sport has an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a first for the PPV segment. There’s also a new floor-mounted console with an additional AC outlet along with the existing USB port, as well as soft padded door handles for a more premium interior ambiance.

Drivers can still expect the same level of performance as before from its 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo diesel engine, producing 181 hp and 430 Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic depending on the variant. The Super-Select 4WD-II system also has a newly designed knob.

It’s in the technology department where the Montero Sport gets quite a huge upgrade. As mentioned, some of the Montero Sport’s features can be controlled via your smartphone. This includes a newly-designed power tailgate, which not only features remote operation via the smartphone app but also the ability to open or close when you approach or leave the Montero Sport, respectively. The new smartphone app also allows you to unlock and lock the vehicle, and it will also notify you if you’ve left your vehicle unlocked. Lastly, the Montero Sport now features Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The Montero Sport will shortly go on sale in Thailand soon, with the Philippines following shortly thereafter.
