If there was one thing we constantly complained about Toyota’s vehicles, it would be its awful AVT-sourced infotainment system with its low resolution, convoluted interface, and lack of modern smartphone connectivity features apart from the usual USB and Bluetooth. Happily, however, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has upped its infotainment game by finally offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality across the entire Toyota Fortuner line-up.
The Toyota Fortuner still uses the same 6.75-inch touch screen infotainment system, but now with the benefit of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which means it should be easier for most drivers nowadays with a smartphone to simply connect it via USB and enjoy a condensed version of their smartphone’s interface right at the car’s dashboard. No more ugly phone mounts to deal with if you want to use Waze. Additionally, the new infotainment system should be more responsive to use due to upgraded internals, such as 512 MB of RAM with 8GB of ROM (both previously at 256MB).
“Toyota listens to the demands of the local market, and we are always on the lookout when it comes to adopting technologies that make driving easier, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone,” said TMP First Vice President Ms. Cristina Arevalo. “Equipping the Fortuner with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is something our customers will surely appreciate.”
The good news from all this is the fact that there is no price increase. As a matter of fact, TMP is offering discounts of up to P90,000 when you buy a Fortuner this September. Meanwhile, customers who buy any of the 4×2 variants of the Fortuner will get a free maintenance promo for up to 20,000 kilometers.
For referencem, these are the Fortuner’s prices without the discounts in place.
