Isuzu Philippines (IPC) has revealed the limited edition MU-X Boondock at the Isuzu Grand Family Event held at Filinvest Tent, Muntinlupa City last Saturday, September 28, 2019. Priced at P1,845,000, the offer is for a limited 100 units only. The MU-X Boondock is another variant that IPC introduced this year after the successful intro to the market of the rugged Boondock DMAX earlier.
Upon first impressions, the midsize SUV MU-X Boondock exudes ruggedness, which starts from its wheels, fitted with 17 inches 265/70 Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires. Fenders flaring and bumper extensions were added for a more aggressive look. A crossbar is mounted on the roof which is designed to carry bikes and surfboards. It was also announced during the launch that the MU-X Boondock will only be available in Havana Brown. Lastly, this Boondock MU-X comes with a steel step board marked with an exclusive Boondock logo.
The interior likewise has no major changes and it is the same with the standard MU-X having leather electronically adjustable seats and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, WIFI, USB, Bluetooth, and 6-speaker sound system output.
On its under-chassis, this Boondock MU-X is supported by a set of independent double-wishbone performance suspension systems with a shock absorber that is filled with monotube-nitrogen, rear 5-link coil springs, and further reinforced by a rear stabilizer bar.
The powertrain is the usual 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX inline-4 BluePower turbo diesel engine, producing 177 hp @ 3600 rpm and 380 NM of Torque @ 1800-2800 rpm,. This Boondock runs on 4×2 only and is mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Sequential option select.
The Grand MU-X Family Event coinciding with the soft-launch of the MU-X Boondock Edition serves as a family-oriented venue where various Isuzu car clubs and prospective Isuzu customers can enjoy exclusive discounts and promotions. Car club members were able to showcase their iconic and modified Isuzu vehicles, while IPC provided a day to night music entertainment from popular bands in the country.
The vaunted tough terrain capability of MU-X Boondock remains to be seen. Offroad enthusiasts and media friends await the forthcoming drive experience including another rallycross race experience where the DMAX Boondock variant was also recently tested.
