Ever since its introduction in late 2017, the Suzuki Vitara has become one of Suzuki Philippines (SPH) best-selling models. Suzuki’s subcompact (B-segment) crossover offering has satisfied motorists who are looking for a vehicle that is small and easy enough to maneuver in tight city streets whilst being a comfortable and sporty long-distance traveling companion during the weekends. Fast forward to 2019, and Suzuki Philippines has given its highly-popular Vitara a handsome facelift.
Exterior changes are quite minor but very welcome, giving the Vitara a solid boost in street cred. Suzuki has given the Vitara a more modern grille flanked by automatic LED headlights for the GLX variant, sleeker front bumpers, a chrome garnish housing the LED daytime running lights and a new set of handsome alloy wheels. At the rear are revised taillights while Suzuki has upped the Vitara’s style quotient further by adding two new stunning colors: Prime Solar Yellow Pearl with a contrasting white or black roof; and Ice Greyish Blue Metallic with a black roof.
Interior changes are also quite minor, which include brighter silver accents, new leather seat pattern for the GLX variant, as well as soft padding above the instrument panel for a more premium feel. Speaking of which, the instrument panel has been redesigned and now features a new color multi-information display. The top trim GLX variant also gets a panoramic sunroof, 6-speaker audio system and a 10-inch Android-based touch screen infotainment system while the rest of the Vitara range gets a smaller 8-inch unit.
The Vitara’s continues to be powered by the same 1.6-liter M16A as before, producing 115 hp and 156 Nm of torque, with power sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
As for driver safety and convenience, the Vitara gets dual SRS airbags, cruise control, and electronic stability control as standard, while the top trim GLX variant adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers four more airbags, front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera.
“The New Vitara will surely appeal to car enthusiasts looking for an improved version of the classic Suzuki vehicle. It is our pleasure to bring another modified Suzuki vehicle to the Philippines. The New Vitara will certainly deliver an exceptional driving experience to Filipinos – the Suzuki way,” shared Keiichi Suzuki.
Suzuki customers may now see the Vitara across all of its dealers nationwide, which have a retail price of P1,038,000 for the GL+ and P1,158,000 for the GLX.
The Suzuki Vitara’s unveiling comes right at the heels of Suzuki’s impressive third-quarter growth. Suzuki Philippines has experienced 19 percent sales growth for the first nine months of the year over the same period in 2018. The continued sales increase is the result of the brand’s strategic marketing efforts, which emphasize numerous promotions and interactive events and are aimed at boosting product visibility.
“Suzuki’s current standing in the Philippine automotive industry is a significant milestone for the brand. After securing the 4th spot in the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) ranking – the highest rank in the brand’s history – and climbing to the 5th spot in the local automotive industry roster last quarter, we at Suzuki Philippines can definitely say that 2019 has been a monumental year for the brand,” shared SPH Director and General Manager for Automobile Division Keiichi Suzuki.
“These back-to-back achievements further fuel our drive to deliver on the brand’s promise of quality driving experience with every Suzuki vehicle,” he added.
The Ertiga, Swift and Celerio continue to be Suzuki’s top-three best-selling vehicles. The three award-winning models combined accounted for 56 percent of total sales from January to September this year.
