SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines has unveiled the refreshed Tivoli alongside the all-new Korando. The refreshed Tivoli packs more style, more interior tech, as well as a purely diesel-powered line-up, the only vehicle to do so in the segment.
The Tivoli gets facelifted for the second time for the 2020 model year. Up front, the Tivoli gets a redesigned front fascia similar to what the 2020 Korando has. The new front fascia features a new grille, a more aggressive front bumper, new alloy wheels, slick new LED taillights, and sharper headlight designs with LED daytime running lights offered on the Diesel Premium variant.
The changes inside are even more substantial as the Tivoli gets a heavily redesigned dashboard with nicer buttons and a better touch screen infotainment system. Gone is the Android-based head unit, now replaced by SsangYong’s own infotainment system with a 6.2-inch touch screen for the Diesel Sport and a bigger 8-inch unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality for the Diesel Premium. Other niceties exclusive to the Diesel Premium variant are a slick 10.25-inch fully digital gauge cluster similar to what the Korando has, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leatherette seats, and passive entry with push-button start.
As mentioned, the Tivoli goes all out with diesel, therefore all variants feature the same 1.6-liter inline-4 turbo diesel engine that’s also found in the Korando. It produces 136 hp and 324 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
As for safety, all variants of the SsangYong Tivoli get dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and reverse camera. Meanwhile, the Diesel Premium Sport gets side and curtain airbags.
“The Tivoli’s new engine is a major upgrade from previous models in more than just the power it generates,” says SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines President Japheth Castillo. “It’s also got cleaner emissions and excellent fuel economy.”
The new SsangYong Tivoli is now on sale at Auto Asia Sta. Rosa and SsangYong Otis, Manila. All units come with three years of free service (oil, parts, and labor), along with a 5-year or 100,000km warranty, whichever comes first.
