Its the start of the year, which means it’s also the time when automakers tally their sales from the previous year as a gauge on how their brand performed. MG Philippines is no exception, and in its first full year of operations in the Philippines, the brand reports that it has sold an impressive 5,085 vehicles. With this figure, MG Philippines sold more cars than Kia (5,019), which experienced record-breaking sales growth in 2019.
MG is handled by The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), along with American automaker Chevrolet. TCCCI says that the overwhelming response to the MG brand is led by the MG ZS crossover SUV, which generated over half of MG Philippines’ total vehicle sales in 2019.
In response to the overwhelming demand, TCCCI opened a total of 24 MG dealerships last year. The distributor aims to maintain the brand’s staggering growth this year by opening seven more dealerships.
