SMC Asian Car Distributors Corp., the official distributor of BMW in the Philippines, has officially launched the facelifted BMW X1, bringing with it an improved exterior design, a more efficient diesel powertrain, and a lower starting price compared to its predecessor.
From the outside, the BMW X1’s front fascia has been tweaked, giving it a more handsome face. The brand’s iconic pair of kidney grilles have been slightly enlarged and are now joined together in the middle to form a single grille piece. Also receiving changes are its front and rear bumpers, which now look sleeker than before. Redesigned LED head and taillights also cast a striking glow whenever these lighting elements are turned on.
If you think that the exterior changes subdued, wait ’til you see the changes inside. The changes are even harder to spot, though the most noteworthy addition for this new X1 is a leather stitched dashboard. Also, drivers will appreciate the redesigned gauge cluster, which now uses BMW’s sleek “black panel material” giving the gauges a cleaner look.
Only one variant of the X1 will be sold, which is the X1 sDrive18d xLine. As such, it gets a 2.0-liter inline-4 diesel engine that produces 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The BMW X1 sDrive18d xLine is now on sale across all BMW dealers nationwide with a starting price of P3,090,000, and it comes with a 5-year or 200,000-kilometer manufacturer’s warranty–a
new standard in the premium automotive segment in the Philippines. You can personally see the new BMW X1 at the BMW Joyfest 2020 at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig until February 23, 2020.
