In June of 2020, Maxus Philippines has teased the arrival of the G50 three-row MPV. However, it seems we do not have to wait any longer as the Ayala-backed Sino-British automaker has announced that a number of 2021 Maxus G50 units are already at their warehouse. We also happen to finally have a launch date: August 25, 2020.
With Maxus squarely aiming for the compact MPV market that’s dominated by the body-on-frame Toyota Innova, the 2021 Maxus G50 stands out with its traditional minivan configuration and car-like monocoque body. Also, the Maxus G50’s monocoque body allows the MPV to have a traditionally low step-in height for easier access.
Another way the 2021 Maxus G50 is aiming to stand out in the MPV segment is through its generous amount of standard features. The 2021 Maxus G50 will be offered in a 2-3-3 seating configuration and will be equipped with features such as passive entry with push-button start, electronic parking brake, and a touch screen infotainment system. As for safety, the G50 will be equipped with electronic stability control, parking sensors, and a reverse camera.
All three variants will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 169 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Just like other Maxus vehicles, the G50 will come with a 5-year warranty.
Maxus Philippines is ready to showcase the new Maxus G50 three-row MPV by August 25, 2020. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Ayala-backed Maxus Philippines is showing no signs of stopping this year as it prepares to launch more new vehicles and increase its presence in the Philippines automotive market.
