As Mazda Motor Corporation celebrates its 100th anniversary, the Japanese automaker from Hiroshima has a lot in store for 2020. Earlier this year, the company created special 100th Anniversary Editions of its entire lineup, from the Mazda 2 all the way to the CX-9. Today, Mazda Philippines officially launches two 100th Anniversary Edition models for the Philippine market: the Mazda 3 and MX-5.
“For 100 years now, Mazda has remained true to its promise of making cars that defy convention,” shares Mazda Philippines president and CEO, Steven Tan. “As we celebrate a century of manufacturing, design, and engineering expertise, we also would like to thank our customers by letting them commemorate this milestone with us.” Tan adds, “By making these 100th Anniversary Special Edition models available in the Philippines, Mazda acknowledges the passion of our loyal customers. We wish to thank them for allowing us to create unique products that continue to brighten their lives.”
While the Mazda 3 edition100 was mainly designed to celebrate the Mazda 3 being awarded as the best-designed car for 2020, the Mazda 3 (and MX-5) 100th Anniversary Edition truly celebrates the company’s 100th founding anniversary. All 100th Anniversary Edition models are painted in Snowflake White Pearl. Unique to the special edition version of the Mazda 3 are its gloss black alloy wheels, while both the Mazda 3 and MX-5 feature 100th Anniversary badges on the exterior panels and wheel caps.
Available only as a hatchback, the Mazda 3 100th Anniversary Edition’s interior is upholstered in white and burgundy leather. 100th Anniversary badging is also seen in the burgundy carpets, while the headrests are embroidered with the special 100th Anniversary logo. Of course, this Mazda 3 100th Anniversary Edition is equipped with all the bells and whistles found in the 2.0 Premium variant, which includes a head-up display, power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-person memory, Bose sound system, 8.8-inch Mazda Connect infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among others.
In addition, the Mazda 3 100th Anniversary Edition is also equipped with a 360-degree camera and the full suite of i-Activsense advanced driver-assist features, ranging from automatic emergency braking, radar-guided adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, and rear cross traffic alert.
For the MX-5, the soft top variant features a burgundy roof, which harks back to Mazda’s first-ever passenger car, the R360. A hard-top RF variant will also be available and it also features a Snowflake White Pearl exterior finish.
The interior of these special edition MX-5s are all finished in burgundy Nappa Leather, and features a Bose sound system, Mazda Connect infotainment system, among others. There’s also an embossed Mazda 100th Anniversary logo in the seats, and special badging on the carpets.
