Coventry Motors Corporation, the official distributor of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines, brings in the facelifted 2021 Jaguar F-Type sports car. This new model gets a slightly restyled exterior design, along with various improvements in interior quality and driving performance.
From the outside, the 2021 Jaguar F-Type’s revised exterior is still instantly recognizable but modernized with a few enhancements. Upfront, the F-Type features a more aggressive fascia characterized by a wider mesh grille, slimmer headlights, and bigger side intakes. Other updates include a new hood, new wheels, and slimmer LED taillights that ditches the circular design of its predecessor.
Chris Ward, President of Coventry Motors Corp, said: “The Jaguar F-Type truly is the worthy successor of the most beautiful car ever made, the legendary E-Type. The F-Type still embodies the traditional Jaguar craftsmanship and is enhanced with modern contemporary design. Like its predecessor, the E-Type, it sports a distinct luxury Sports car look that made everyone who laid eyes on the vehicle mesmerized. In the 1960s when the E-Type was released, it was ahead of its league with its racing qualifications, engine performance and, head-turning good looks. The F-Type exemplifies the same thrilling drive experience, performance and the show-stopping design and stance.”
As for the interior, the fundamental design remains unchanged, but Jaguar has added a new 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster as well as the latest version of the Touch Pro infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Interior quality has also been improved through the increased use of more premium materials and plush details.
The 2021 Jaguar F-Type is available in two engines for the Philippine market. The range kicks off with the base 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo gasoline engine that produces 296 hp and 400 Nm of torque, enough for a 0-100 kph time of 5.4 seconds all the way to a 250 kph top speed. The other engine choice is the range-topping 5.0-liter supercharged V8 gasoline engine in the F-Type R, which produces 567 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Zero to 100 kph happens in as little as 3.5 seconds, all the way to a 299 kph top speed.
The high-performance F-Type R also benefits from a Quiet Start function. This feature keeps the electrically-actuated bypass valves in the rear silencer closed until they automatically open up under heavy throttle. If desired, Quiet Start can be over-ridden by selecting Dynamic Mode or by pressing the switchable exhaust button before starting the engine.
The distinctive crackle and pop sounds from the F-Type’s exhaust remains. The sounds have been meticulously tuned to suit the range of powerful four and eight-cylinder engines. Highly efficient, close-coupled particulate filters also reduce emissions.
More than just having a more powerful engine, the F-Type R also features new adaptive dampers, anti-roll bars, and stiffer rear knuckles and ball joints. It is also fitted as standard with wider 20-inch wheels for better grip.
The 2021 Jaguar F-Type is now in the Philippines with a starting price of P6,190,000 for the base 2.0 variant, while the F-Type R is only available via indent order with pricing upon request. Starting Friday, September 18, until September 24 you can catch the F-Type 2.0 alongside the iconic E-Type at the All British Cars showroom in Greenhills and at BGC Boutique Showroom in 5th Ave. cor. 24th Street from September 25 to 30.
