The next-generation Isuzu D-Max will arrive in 2021, as confirmed by Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) during a Zoom conference with the media for its 300,000th unit celebration. IPC, however, did not give an exact date as to when in 2021 will the all-new D-Max will reach the Philippines.
Isuzu’s popular pick-up truck was last redesigned eight years ago, so it’s truly due to an overhaul to remain competitive in the pick-up segment. The all-new exterior design is characterized by a large grille with fang-like chrome or glosses black bars depending on the variant. This is then flanked by slimmer bi-LED headlights with U-shaped LED daytime running lights on higher variants. Isuzu says its wedge-shaped profile has been wind tunnel tested at Japan Railways’ (JR) Technical Research Institute. Meanwhile, the side profile now features a character line that runs from the front wheel arch all the way to the rear LED taillights.
This all-new pick-up rides on an all-new ladder frame chassis that aims to substantially improve refinement and chassis rigidity. Complementing the improved road manners is an all-new interior design that Isuzu says features premium soft-touch materials and other luxurious surfaces.
Under the hood of the next-generation Isuzu D-Max is a new 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX BluePower diesel engine that now produces 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque, an increase of 13 hp and 70 Nm over the outgoing 4JJ1-TCX. The 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC engine is an all-new engine, but it still produces 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Power is sent through the rear or all four wheels via a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The announcement comes as IPC celebrates its 300,000th unit milestone. From October 1 to December 31, 2020, discounts of up to P200,000 are available in the outgoing Isuzu D-Max. Those who purchase any brand-new Isuzu will receive a free Shell Go+ fuel card which includes a welcome kit.
On top of all these discounts on brand-new vehicles, IPC is offering a 30% discount on aftersales services exclusive to Isuzu vehicles with an odometer mileage of 300,000 to 310,000 kilometers. The promo period for this runs from October 1 to 31, 2020 only.
IPC is also offering special aftersales discounts to frontliners who own an Isuzu. Qualified frontliners can avail an oil change for as low as P1,700 along with other special privileges at any Isuzu dealer nationwide.
