SsangYong Philippines reinvigorates the subcompact crossover market with the return of the SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport. Slotting in between the range-topping Tivoli 1.6-liter Diesel Premium and the 1.6-liter Diesel Sport in specifications and features, the new gasoline engine offering in the SsangYong Tivoli lineup stands out to deliver the smooth and refined driving experience that car buyers and crossover shoppers are very familiar with.
The SsangYong Tivoli was given a refresh for the 2020 model year, giving this small SUV a sleeker look. For the new Tivoli Gas Sport, halogen headlamps come as standard, along with new LED taillights and new 18-inch alloy wheels.
Moving inside, and drivers will appreciate the 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also black fabric seats, a leather steering wheel, and a color-adjustable instrument cluster.
Crossover buyers will enjoy a clear advantage in space and road presence over other market offerings with the Tivoli Gas Sport’s class-leading dimensions. The latest SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport features one of the longest wheelbase measurements in its class at 2,600 mm. This provides more legroom and cargo space for small families ensuring their comfort over long journeys.
“The new SsangYong Tivoli lineup is our answer to the growing needs of many car buyers for reasonably priced, feature-rich alternatives in the growing subcompact crossover space,” says Japheth Castillo, president of SsangYong Philippines. “Though we pride ourselves with our extensive diesel-engine crossover and SUV lineup, we believe there is still a large demand for gasoline-engined vehicles, especially when they come with eye-catching design aesthetics like the Tivoli Gas Sport.” Castillo adds, “With this latest Tivoli offering, we are confident that crossover shoppers will see the true value and benefits that the SsangYong lineup has to offer.”
The SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport is powered by a 1.6-liter e-XDGi160 gasoline motor, rated at 128 hp and 160Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
As for safety, this new small SUV comes as standard with dual SRS airbags, ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist, a burglar alarm, and a rearview camera.
With its special Introductory offering of P970,000, which is P150,000 less than its actual SRP of P1,120,000, the SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport is one of the most affordable gasoline-powered small SUVs currently on sale. As with all SsangYong vehicles, the Tivoli Gas Sport comes with free maintenance for three years and a 5-year warranty.
