Honda has given us a first look at the 2022 Honda Civic, which is scheduled to make its full debut this April 28. The Japanese automaker has only provided one photo, with more photos and details to be revealed on its official debut date.
At this point, we’re not exactly surprised with how it looks, especially since the Civic prototype that debuted late last year is basically a near production-ready model. There were also countless spy shots of the all-new 2022 Honda Civic leaking all over the internet, further dampening any surprises the public may have had towards Honda’s latest compact sedan.
Like all recent Hondas, the all-new Civic goes for a more mature and minimalist styling. Whereas the 10th generation (otherwise known as the FC) Civic looked radical, this new model removes the clutter from that model and replaces it with something more conventional. Social media users seem to consider it too tame, while others appreciate the cleaner look. Whatever the case, it seems this new model has divided opinions compared to the previous model which was almost universally praised for its futuristic and sporty styling.
No interior shots have been provided, though we expect to see what it will look like once it’s fully unveiled on April 28. Based on the sketch the Japanese automaker provided and from its recently redesigned models, we expect an interior that’s clutter-free and filled with more premium materials than its predecessor.
Powertrain details are also unknown at this point, though we won’t be surprised if the North American Civic will continue to feature a 2.0-liter inline-4 i-VTEC gasoline engine that produces 158 hp and 188 Nm of torque and a 1.5-liter inline-4 VTEC Turbo gasoline engine that produces 173 hp and 220 Nm of torque. We also won’t be surprised if the ASEAN version will receive the same aforementioned 1.5-liter turbo mill and a smaller 1.8-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine as the base offering.
Do stay tuned to Go Flat Out PH to keep yourselves updated regarding the all-new 2022 Honda Civic.
