Here's Your First Look At The Facelifted 2022 Kia Forte

Here’s Your First Look At The Facelifted 2022 Kia Forte

Want something that isn't a Toyota Corolla Altis or a Honda Civic? The Kia Forte is a handsome contender that we wish would sell better.

The Kia Forte is the South Korean automaker’s competitor to the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic, and Mazda 3. While this compact sedan is fairly successful in various markets around the world, that isn’t exactly the case here in the Philippines, with Kia selling less than 20 of these a year in our market. Perhaps this facelifted 2022 Kia Forte could turn things around?

From the outside, the changes are quite minor, though they do a lot in making the 2022 Kia Forte look even more handsome. The brand’s signature “Tiger Nose” grille looks even more defined now, which are flanked by a pair of slimmer LED headlights. Complementing the redesigned grille is the sleeker front bumper with LED foglights.

The side profile remains unchanged, though the new set of alloy wheels do uplift the Forte’s looks. Moving towards the rear, and you’ll see a sleek set of LED taillights that run across the Forte’s width. This design trait seems to be a trend nowadays, with the recently-unveiled Kia K5 and Carnival also donning this look.

As for the interior, the fundamental design remains largely unchanged. What’s new for this facelift is the addition of fully digital gauges and a large touch screen infotainment system that uses the Hyundai Motor Group’s newest user interface. Material quality has also been improved, plus certain variants now use an electronic parking brake instead of a mechanical hand brake.

No powertrain options nor a full list of features have been released yet since this is just a preview. In the Philippines’ case, our market gets two 1.6-liter gasoline engines. The base engine is a naturally aspirated one that produces 128 hp and 155 Nm of torque, while the range-topping GT variant features turbocharging and therefore produces a punchy 204 hp and 265 Nm of torque. The non-turbo engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic while the GT variant gets a 7-speed dry dual-clutch transmission.

The 2022 Kia Forte will be revealed in full by April 20, so do stay tuned to Go Flat Out PH to know more about Kia’s latest compact sedan.
