All-New Honda City Is More Fuel Efficient Than Previous Models

The fuel economy figures of the all-new Honda City lineup has been verified by the AAP, and the results are astounding.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is pleased to share the official results of its recently concluded Fuel Economy Run of the all-new Honda City, in partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).

Last May 30, 2021, HCPI conducted the fuel economy run with two of its newly launched models – the all-new City 1.5 RS CVT and the all-new City Hatchback 1.5 RS CVT. After a total of 73.5 kilometers of highway day driving, the all-new City Hatchback achieved a fuel mileage of 25 kilometers per liter. On the other hand, the all-new City achieved a fuel mileage of 25.17 kilometers per liter, significantly higher than the previous fuel economy run conducted for the City back in 2017 at 23.9 kilometers per liter.

To ensure that the fuel economy run was completed under realistic driving conditions, HCPI and AAP set the following parameters for both vehicles:

  1. Speed of 60-80 kilometer per hour at 1,500 to 2,000 rpm
  2. Aircon set on low fan and approximately at 24 degrees

Launched last October 2020 in time with HCPI’s 30th anniversary in the country, the all-new Honda City is the model’s fifth generation and has become one of HCPI’s best-selling models over the years. On the other hand, the all-new City Hatchback was launched last April 2021, as part of HCPI’s expansion of its renowned City model line-up, specifically in the B-segment hatchback category.

Both models highlight their 1.5-Liter 4 Cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 121 hp at 6,600 rpm, and a maximum of 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. This engine is mated to a CVT.

“The fuel economy run is our own initiative, in partnership and supervision of Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP). Through this, we hope to provide customers accurate information that would aid them to form a decision in their car selection and purchase process. The positive results from the activity reaffirm the fuel efficiency of both City models, hopefully making them a favorable sedan and hatchback choice for the Filipino people.” Said Mr. Masahiko Nakamura, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) president.
