Facelifted 2021 Geely Coolray Unveiled With Improved Looks, Better Tech

The 2021 Geely Coolray has just been unveiled via the Chinese automaker’s official images. Geely’s latest subcompact SUV has been met with exterior and tech revisions, while the powertrain remains largely unchanged for the 2021 model year.

Upfront, the 2021 Geely Coolray features an updated front fascia. This particular variant we see here dons a greyed-out face. Rather than Geely’s “expanding cosmos” grille, the new Coolray features a sportier mesh design. While the headlights look the same as before, this new model’s headlamps now feature an opening sequence. At the sides, there are now a few body graphics that have been added to enhance this particular variant’s sporty looks. There are also a set of new all-black 18-inch wheels, though the design itself is the same as before. Lastly, the Geely Coolray gets a number of new colors, including this shade of yellow in these official photos.

Inside, the 2021 Geely Coolray gets a new color scheme that matches the selected exterior paint job, along with a new, bigger 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system that replaces the previous model’s 10.25-inch screen. The electronic gear shifter has also been redesigned, and there’s also a new 72-color LED ambient lighting system. The rest of the design, however, remains largely unchanged, which is not exactly a bad thing since the Coolray already has one of the nicest interiors in its segment.

As for powertrains, the new 2021 Geely Coolray is still powered by a 1.5-liter inline-3 turbo gasoline engine that produces 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque. This is then sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The facelifted 2021 Geely Coolray is expected to go on sale later this year, while a Philippine launch could happen by early- to mid-2022.
