The 2022 SsangYong Musso has just been unveiled, and it gets an upgraded and enhanced look, along with the addition of more standard advanced safety technologies.
The most prominent change made by the South Korean automaker to its body-on-frame pickup is at its front end. A larger grille now adorns its face, which occupies almost its entire fascia. The grille is flanked by a pair of HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, which are unchanged from the pre-facelift model. What’s new, however, are the vertical LED foglights in order to blend well with the bigger grille. The rest of the pickups’ design remains unchanged though, save for a few new sets of wheel designs.
We loved the SsangYong Musso for its premium interior, and this 2022 model is no exception. There’s brown or black leather depending on the variant, and this is even upholstered on the dashboard. The rest of the interior, however, remains unchanged. It still gets the same 8-inch touch screen infotainment system as before and the 7-inch color multi-information display in between the two analog gauges.
Powertrain options for the 2022 SsangYong Musso are the same as before, which means a 2.2-liter inline-4 turbo diesel engine comes as standard. This engine produces 181 hp and 400 Nm with the 6-speed manual or 187 hp and 420 Nm for the 6-speed automatic. Other markets get a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo gasoline engine that produces 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque and is also mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic. The Philippine-market Musso will surely still be powered by a diesel engine only.
As for safety, the 2022 SsangYong Musso now gets automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, automatic high beams, and lead vehicle start alert. Unfortunately, adaptive cruise control is still nowhere to be found in the Musso.
The 2022 SsangYong Musso is already on sale in markets like South Korea and Australia. A Philippine launch could most likely happen in early- or mid-2022.
