The 2022 Lexus GX receives a new infotainment system and other tech upgrades, while a new Black Line Edition is exclusive to the USA.

The 2022 Lexus GX 460 receives another update for this year even though the midsize body-on-frame SUV is now more than 10 years old. For the US market, the GX also gets a new Black Line Edition.

Available in three colors, including this Nori Green Pearl in the thumbnail photo, the 2022 Lexus GX Black Line Edition gets a new set of black 18-inch wheels and various black trims that replace all of the standard model’s chrome trims. The taillights have also been updated with a shade of Garnet Red. Elsewhere, it’s still the same GX we’ve come to be familiar with since this model received its second facelift for the 2020 model year.

A bulk of the Lexus GX’s upgrades were implemented in the interior, specifically, the new 10.3-inch floating touch screen that features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. The Black Line Edition as expected gets an all-black interior and even Black Ash Wood trims.

The 2022 Lexus GX also now comes as standard with the full suite of Lexus Safety System+ advanced driver-assist systems, such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, high beam assist, and radar-guided adaptive cruise control. Also new for 2022 is a new Intuitive Parking Assist system.

Powertrain options for the 2022 Lexus GX remain unchanged, which means your only choice is the GX 460, and it’s powered by a tried-and-tested 4.6-liter V8 gasoline engine that produces 301 hp and 446 Nm of torque. All of that power is sent to a 4WD system via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2022 Lexus GX is expected to go on sale later this year in the North American market first before eventually being offered in other global markets.
