Ford Philippines has launched a new section on its website where customers can learn more about its upcoming vehicles. It has also confirmed that the all-new 2022 Ford F-150 and Explorer are coming soon and here’s what you can expect.
The Ford F-150, which is all-new for 2022, is built on a fully boxed high-strength steel frame with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body. The exterior design is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but all the panels are completely new. In addition, the F-150 has a number of smart exterior features, such as a configurable Zone Lighting feature, an optional tailgate that features a work surface complete with measuring devices when doing construction work, just to name a few.
Interior changes are even more substantial in the all-new F150. There are more premium materials regardless of variant, along with new interior color choices and more storage. Since Ford has confirmed that the variant to be offered will be the Lariat Diesel 4×4, expect features such as a massive 12-inch touch screen that allows customers to split the screen and control multiple functions simultaneously, including navigation, music or truck features, along with a 12-inch fully-digital gauge cluster, Bang & Olufsen sound system, Ford CoPilot360 suite of advanced driver-assist systems, just to name a few.
As mentioned, the F-150 will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbo V6 Power Stroke diesel engine that produces 250 hp and 595 Nm of torque, driving all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
As for the Explorer, Ford has opted for an evolutionary redesign of their popular midsize SUV. The evolutionary styling carries traits such as the characteristic floating roof design that have been carried over. The prominent grille has now been reshaped to feature a hexagonal design. While the design may not seem radically different, the all-new Explorer switches to a rear-wheel drive (RWD) platform.
The interior of the Explorer is completely redesigned. Ford Philippines has confirmed that the variant that will be offered in the Philippines is the Limited 2.3-liter EcoBoost model. With this in mind, expect features like a Bang & Olufsen sound system, Ford CoPilot360 suite of advanced driver-assist systems, captain’s chairs, just to name a few. What we can’t confirm is if whether we’ll be getting the 8-inch or the optional 12.3-inch version of Ford’s SYNC infotainment system.
It’s also obvious to point out that the engine to be offered will be a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo gasoline engine that produces 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This variant also comes with Ford’s electronically-controlled AWD with a Terrain Management System.
“We are very excited to enable this section of our website to keep our customers up to speed and excited with what Ford vehicles they can expect to be launched in the future. We invite our customers to stay tuned on our website or visit a Ford dealer for more updates about upcoming Ford vehicles,” says Patrick Manigbas, marketing director, Ford Philippines.
2021 will be yet another busy year for Ford Philippines, with two vehicle launches happening in the horizon. With the arrival of the 2022 Ford F-150 and Explorer, the American automaker’s lineup will be even more attractive and competitive than ever.
