GAC Motor Philippines is preparing to add more excitement to the brand this year with its new “Go And Change Campaign” that heralds the brand’s new strategic direction of focusing on the technology and improvement of its craftsmanship. Along with the brand’s new direction, the all-new 2022 GAC GS4, GN8 Master’s Edition, and a bulletproof version of the GS8.
The all-new 2022 GAC GS4 may look similar to the outgoing model, but it’s actually completely new from the ground up. The front bumper now features a large grille and a sportier front bumper, while the side profile still has a floating roof like the previous model. The rear of the GS4 gets a new LED taillight design that’s connected by a trim piece, emphasizing the compact SUV’s width.
Interior changes for the 2022 GAC GS4 are much more substantial as it gets a new dash design with two large LCD screens and a more modern layout. Material quality has also been improved, with the dashboard now wrapped in leatherette surfaces. For now, we still have no clue on what features the Philippine-market GS4 will get.
There are two engine choices for the 2022 GAC GS4. This includes a 1.5-liter inline-4 turbo gasoline engine that produces 169 hp and 265 Nm of torque, which is 18 hp more and 30 Nm more than the previous model.
There’s also a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain for the first time, and it combines a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine that produces 147 hp and 220 Nm of torque along with an electric motor that produces 174 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic, while the PHEV’s electric range is claimed to be at 61 kilometers.
Along with the all-new GS4, a new bulletproof GAC GS8 and GN8 Master’s Edition is coming out this year as well. Details for these two models are scarce as of the moment, but we do know that the GS8 that’s coming out this year will not yet be the facelift model that made its world debut earlier this year. Still, 2021 will be a busy year for the Chinese automaker as it plans to reinvigorate its brand with a new marketing campaign that’s backed by new models as well.
