The 2022 Subaru XV GT Edition is making a comeback nearly a couple of months after the facelifted Subaru XV made its Philippine debut.
Based on the 2.0i-S EyeSight variant, the 2022 Subaru XV GT Edition continues to wear a sporty body kit that was designed in collaboration with renowned engineering company Giken Co. Ltd and Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi. As a reminder, Mr. Kobayashi is the former Chief Designer (Head of Global Advanced Design Studio) of Subaru Corporation and was responsible for the exterior design of more than 12 Subaru production models, including the legendary WRX STI.
The GT Edition XV benefits from a front and rear under spoiler, side skirts, roof spoiler, and 18-inch GT Edition-specific wheels. Other than that, the XV GT Edition adopts the standard model’s redesigned swivelling LED headlights with automatic high beams, new LED foglights, and new reverse-linked tilting side mirrors.
Inside the XV GT Edition, and you’ll find a pair of front seats that are upholstered in a combination of white and black leather. And that’s pretty much it for the XV GT Edition’s interior upgrades. The 8-inch Panasonic-sourced touch screen with a 360-degree camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are carried over, and so is its new power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-person memory, rear seat reminder, just to name a few.
Because this is just an aesthetic upgrade, the 2022 Subaru XV GT Edition is powered by the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine as the standard model, which means it still produces 156 hp and 196 Nm of torque, powering all four wheels via a CVT.
As with most Subarus nowadays, the XV GT Edition comes with the EyeSight suite of advanced driver-assistance tech that includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, full-speed adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, just to name a few.
The 2022 Subaru XV GT Edition is now available on all Subaru dealers for P2,008,000, which is a P100,000 increase over the standard model. To make the XV GT Edition more affordable an introductory P210,000 discount is being offered, bringing its price down to just P1,798,000.
