2022 Geely Coolray PHEV Unveiled With 258 HP, 85 KM Electric Range

The 2022 Geely Coolray PHEV has just been unveiled in China, and it packs a lot of punch and plenty of electric range.

Just a few months after the facelifted Geely Coolray made its debut, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version has now been revealed with plenty of performance and an impressive pure electric range. Here are all the details that you need to know about the 2022 Geely Coolray PHEV (badged as ePro in China).

Geely Coolray PHEV

While it looks similar on the outside to the standard Coolray (called the Binyue in China), what lies under its hood is a completely different story. The 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine is now mated to an electric motor and produces a combined output of 258 hp and 415 Nm of torque.

What’s even more impressive its is claimed pure electric range of 85 kilometers. Depending on your daily commute, it’s certainly possible for the engine not to ever kick in unless the driving situation demands it. Bundled with the Coolray PHEV is a 6.6 kWh charger. Other details such as battery size and charge times have not yet been revealed.

As for its design, the Geely Coolray PHEV looks practically unchanged from the standard model. This means it still wears the brand’s newest mesh grille design rather than its signature “Expanding Cosmos” pattern. While the headlights look the same as before, this new model’s headlamps now feature an opening sequence. Your only clue to its electrification is the ePro badge located at its tailgate.

The interior is likewise unchanged from the facelifted model, except for the addition of this blue and white interior scheme. Other colors are available if blue does not tickle your fancy. Just like the standard Coolray, the PHEV model also adopts the new, bigger 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system that replaces the previous model’s 10.25-inch screen. The electronic gear shifter has also been redesigned, and there’s also a new 72-color LED ambient lighting system.

With the 2022 Geely Coolray already been unveiled in China, it’s only a matter of time before the facelifted model arrives here in the Philippines. We also do hope that this plug-in hybrid version also comes along for the ride.
