PNP Acquires Initial Batch Of 217 Toyota Hilux 4×4 And 4×2 Models

An initial batch of 217 Toyota Hilux pickups have been released to the Philippine National Police as they beef up their fleet.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) released a total of 90 units of the Toyota Hilux 4×4 G A/T personnel carrier and dispatched an initial 127 of 411 units of Hilux 4×2 police patrol jeep to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in a meaningful ceremony for the blessing of the units held last November 8, 2021, at the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame.

PNP Chief Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar and National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Vice Chairman Vitaliano Aguirre II were present during the blessing of the Hilux units. These vehicles will be dispatched to different regions in the country and help serve PNP’s day-to-day operations.

The Hilux units have been converted to meet the requirements of PNP. Designed and built to be dependable in tough situations, the country’s top-selling pickup, is sure to deliver high-quality performance to best assist our men and women in uniform in their mobility needs and in promoting safety, contributing to the overall goal of Toyota Motor Philippines in helping build the nation. 

The Toyota Hilux that was released to the PNP is not yet the facelifted 2021 model. As such, the 2.8-liter 4×4 variants are powered by a 1GD engine produces 177 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1,600 to 2,400 rpm. The 2.4-liter 2GD engine that’s fitted in the 4×2 variants, meanwhile, produces 150 hp and 343 Nm of torque.
