The 2022 Toyota Camry has finally arrived in the Philippines. As Toyota continues to push its hybrid electrification tech across its lineup, the Camry is now solely available in hybrid form.
Blink and you’ll miss the exterior changes of the 2022 Toyota Camry. The ASEAN Camry, as usual, gets the luxury-oriented design of the North American LE and XLE variants. The headlights and upper grille remain largely unchanged. What’s new for this year is its wider and more defined lower grille. There’s also a new 18-inch alloy wheel design for this sole 2.5 V Hybrid variant.
The interior design largely remains unchanged, though Toyota decided to slap on a “floating screen” with no means to even integrate it with the rest of the interior. Thankfully, however, Toyota Motor Philippines is slowly ditching its archaic locally-sourced touch screens for the same unit that’s found in global models. It’s a 9-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it’s hooked up to an excellent-sounding 9-speaker JBL sound system.
Being Toyota’s executive sedan, you definitely get pampered inside the Camry. Those at the front are treated to power-adjustable front seats and steering, blue LED ambient lights, wireless charging, and a sunroof. The Camry also continues to fulfill its duty as a chauffeur-driven executive car with its power-adjustable rear seats, powered rear and manual side window sunshades, and rear climate control.
As for the engines, only a hybrid variant is being offered for the first time in the Philippines, and it consists of Toyota’s latest 2.5-liter Dynamic Force inline-4 gasoline engine and an electric motor. The hybrid version’s total system output is 215 hp and this is mated to an e-CVT. Gone are its non-electrified engines as TMP continues its push towards an electrified future.
Toyota Safety Sense also arrives for the first time in the 2022 Camry, and this adds full-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic High Beams, Pre-Collision System, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Brake, just to name a few. This comes on top of a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The 2022 Toyota Camry is now on sale across all Toyota dealers nationwide with a price tag of P2,335,000.
