The 2022 Ford Explorer has finally arrived in the Philippines after being teased by the Blue Oval brand a few months ago. Its latest midsize SUV packs more technology compared to its predecessor, along with improved driving dynamics thanks to its all-new platform.
Ford has opted for an evolutionary redesign of its all-new Explorer. The evolutionary styling carries traits such as its characteristic floating roof design and distinct LED taillights. The prominent grille has now been reshaped to feature a hexagonal design. While the design may not seem radically different, the all-new Explorer switches to a rear-wheel drive (RWD) platform. Other exterior highlights for this sole Limited variant on sale include 20-inch wheels, satin roof rails, dual chrome exhausts, and LED lighting all around the vehicle.
Whereas the outside is evolutionary, the interior is completely overhauled as it features a minimalist design and higher-quality materials. The Limited variant on sale in the Philippines features perforated leather seats with heating and cooling at the front, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seats, panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch SYNC3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, PowerFold third-row seats, ambient lighting, rear sunshades, and a 12-speaker Band & Olufsen premium sound system.
The 2022 Ford Explorer Limited is powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 300 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. This is mated to a 10-speed automatic. While it now rides on an RWD platform, the Explorer Limited comes with Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System. This comes with Seven Selectable Drive Modes: Deep Sand, Eco, Normal, Sport, Tow Haul, Trail, and Slippery, enabling drivers to optimize performance and handling across different environments and uses
For advanced safety, the 2022 Ford Explorer comes with Co-Pilot360, Ford’s suite of safety technologies which includes 360-Degree Camera, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning and Dynamic, Brake Support, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Evasive Steering Assist, and Lane-Keeping System. Other advanced safety features include Post-Collision Braking, Reverse Brake Assist, Hill Descent Control, and Hill Start Assist.
The all-new Ford Explorer will be available at all Ford dealers nationwide starting this December 21, 2021, at a price tag of P2,990,000.
