2022 Subaru Levorg Will Arrive As The WRX Sportswagon In PH Next Year

Upon its arrival in the Philippines, the 2022 Subaru Levorg will be renamed the WRX Sportswagon in line with the Australian market.

The 2022 Subaru Levorg and WRX has been confirmed last year to arrive in the Philippines in early 2022. This part is not surprising. What is new to us, however, is that the Levorg will follow the Australian market’s footsteps and rename it the WRX Sportswagon.

2022 Subaru Levorg Philippines

The Subaru Levorg has been one of Go Flat Out PH’s most favorite cars, as we gave the outgoing Levorg 2.0 GT-S high marks in the aspects of performance and practicality. It’s basically shared a lot with the WRX, so renaming it as the WRX Wagon makes a lot of sense–and probably a better heritage compared to the Levorg nameplate.

This bit of news also confirms another detail: its powertrain. The 2022 Subaru Levorg (or rather WRX Sportswagon) will be powered by the same turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer engine as the recently-unveiled WRX sports sedan. This engine produces a healthy 271 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. This is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a new high-performance CVT called the Subaru Performance Transmission. The latter will most likely be the only option for the WRX Sportswagon and sedan, while the 6-speed manual will most likely be via indent order for the WRX sedan.

2022 Subaru Forester

Other vehicles that Glenn Tan, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Motor Image confirmed today is next year’s arrival of the facelifted 2022 Subaru Forester. Receiving a refresh this year, the Subaru Forester gains a new, sportier front end along with the latest EyeSight 4.0. Making its debut in the all-new Outback, EyeSight 4.0 offers a supremely high degree of self-driving capability, with features such as lane centering and evasive steering assist, thus avoiding a crash altogether.

Subaru also expects to sell a little over 800 units in the Philippines this year, which, all things considered, from the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing chip shortage, is a pretty decent number for the brand. The company did not set any sales target due to the ever-changing quarantine conditions.

No exact timing has been given to Subaru’s upcoming vehicle launches for next year. One thing is sure, however, Subaru will take advantage of the expected recovery of the market in the coming years. With its slew of new high-performance models arriving soon, Subaru will embrace is performance-oriented nature once again here in the Philippines.
