Exactly a month after announcing its arrival into the Philippine market, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has finally reached dealers. A hybrid powertrain comes as standard for the first time in the RAV4, and it’s available in two variants: XLE and LTD.
Shown in these photos is the LTD variant, which retails for P2,500,000. Regardless of which variant is chosen, the RAV4 that’s being sold in the Philippines is the facelifted model. This means that all variants come with the same changes that we first saw in the European RAV4, including the revised set of LED headlights with new LED daytime running lights. New alloy wheel designs round up the changes for this model year, in which the LTD comes in 18s. As for exterior features, the LTD benefits from power-folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, chrome door handles, and a panoramic sunroof.
Moving inside the Toyota RAV4, and just like most of its new cars, they have finally ditched the third-party aftermarket infotainment system for their own OEM touch screen. This 7-inch unit comes as standard on all variants and it has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto (both of which are wired), and wireless charging. Both variants also come with a powered tailgate, though only the LTD comes with a foot gesture. Opting for the LTD variant adds leather seats, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a 7-inch multi-information display.
As mentioned, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 is now solely available as a hybrid, and it uses the Camry’s Toyota Hybrid System II that’s composed of a new 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor that produces a combined output of 218 horsepower. This is sent to the front wheels via a CVT, and yes, AWD is not available just like in the pre-facelift RAV4.
On the upside, the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced driver-assistance tech is offered as standard on all variants, and this includes Pre-Collision System (PCS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). Opting for the LTD adds Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and a 360-degree camera system.
The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is now on sale across all Toyota dealers nationwide for P2,157,000 for the XLE and P2,500,000 for the LTD. The RAV4, just as with previous models, is made in Japan.
