After making its debut last year in Japan, the facelifted 2022 Subaru Forester has finally arrived in the Philippines. Though the vehicle has not yet been officially launched, interested customers can already visit their nearest Subaru showroom if they’re interested in this newly-refreshed Forester.
Only one variant will be sold this time, and that’s the top trim 2.0i-S EyeSight. The most prominent change made to the 2022 Subaru Forester is all in its front end. The brand’s “Bolder” design language means it has adopted a number of design cues from the recently-unveiled Levorg wagon. These include the new LED headlights, redesigned grille, new bumpers, and larger foglight housings. The side and the rear remain largely unchanged, though the new Forester gets a new set of alloy wheel designs.
As for its interior, the design remains largely unchanged. There’s still an 8-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a large sunroof, powered tailgate, power-adjustable front seats with two-person memory for the driver, black leather interior, just to name a few.
The 2022 Forester’s 2.0-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine remains unchanged for this year, and it still produces 156 hp and 196 Nm of torque. This drives all four wheels via a CVT.
The new 2022 Subaru Forester also debuts the brand’s latest generation of its EyeSight 4.0 driver-assist systems which made its debut on the Outback. This is physically easy to spot based on the forward-facing cameras that are now flushed into the windshield rather than simply hanging from the car’s ceiling. Apart from the usual automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and full-speed adaptive cruise control, this new EyeSight system now has evasive steering assist that helps drivers execute evasive maneuvers as the system continually monitors its surroundings.
The 2022 Subaru Forester is now in dealers nationwide with a price tag of P2,068,000. To make this crossover SUV even more attractive, the new Forester comes with a P50,000 introductory discount.
