For the first time ever, this year’s finalists of the 2022 World Car of the Year awards consist purely of electric vehicles. This year’s winners will be announced on April 13, 2022, at the 2022 New York Auto Show.
The contenders for this year’s World Car of the Year are the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6. All of these vehicles are electric compact crossover SUVs, reflecting the ever-changing preferences of customers towards zero-emissions vehicles in a practical body style.
Apart from the World Car of the Year, World Car Awards also includes the following other categories, and electric vehicles also make up a significant proportion of this year’s finalists:

2022 marks the 17th year of the World Car Awards partnership with the New York International Auto Show.
