The 2022 Peugeot Traveller is making a return in the French automaker’s lineup. This comes at a time when they’ve just launched the facelifted versions of the 3008 and 5008 SUVs. It’s the third vehicle to be launched by Peugeot this year, and it will make its public debut at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show this April 7.
Priced at P3,100,000, the new Peugeot Traveller costs P260,000 less compared to the previous model that was handled by the French automaker’s previous distributor, Eurobrands Distributor, Inc. (EDI). As a recap, Peugeot is now handled by Astara, a Spanish company that’s aiming to establish a foothold in the ASEAN region.
And how will they achieve this goal? Here in the Philippines, not only does the 2022 Peugeot Traveller more competitively priced now, but it also gains more features in the process, specifically in the area of safety. While it does come with the usual suite of airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control, the new Traveller now has blind spot warning, front and rear parking sensors, 180-degree reverse camera, driver attention alert, and a tire pressure monitor.
Apart from these new safety features, most of the Traveller’s creature comforts have been carried over. These include a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tri-zone automatic climate control, LED ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, smart entry with push-button start, electronic rotary gear shifter, a driver’s head-up display, and Claudia leather upholstery. Those in the second row are treated to folding tables and individual captain’s chairs.
Unlike the previous model though, the new Traveller is now only available as a long-wheelbase model. Measuring at 5.3 meters long, the new Traveller is marginally longer than even the Toyota Hiace Super Grandia. And since this is strictly a seven-seater luxury van, the Peugeot Traveller can genuinely carry seven adults, thanks to the generous space on offer by the lengthened body.
As for its exterior, the 2022 Peugeot Traveller comes with HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and power-sliding doors with hands-free access. There’s only so much you could do in making a box on wheels look stylish, but the Traveller does look elegant with its tasteful amount of chrome embellishments, along with its elegant color choices–namely Bianca White, Artense Gray, and Nera Black–that perfectly match this van’s target audience.
Riding on the same Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) as the 5008 and 3008, the Peugeot Traveller is front-wheel drive (FWD), and it’s powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine that produces a respectable 150 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. This is mated to a 6-speed automatic that’s developed by Aisin.
Shipped straight from France, the 2022 Peugeot Traveller is now available for pre-order. This French luxury van will make its public debut at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show, which runs from April 7 to 10.
