Toyota Motor Philippines has officially announced that the Veloz is arriving in the Philippines on April 29. This announcement also confirms that the 2022 Toyota Veloz will now be a separate mode lineup as opposed to being the top trim variant of the Avanza.
Compared to the Avanza, the 2022 Toyota Veloz has a sportier face that’s characterized by a sportier front and rear bumper, a mesh hexagonal grille, sharper LED headlights with sweeping LED turn signals, a full-width LED light bar, and bigger 17-inch wheels. At least in the Indonesian model, the Veloz also comes with LED puddle lamps when the vehicle is unlocked, giving you easy vehicle access in the dark.
Likewise, the interior of the 2022 Toyota Veloz is significantly upgraded from the Avanza. Some of these upgrades include leather and fabric combination seats, leatherette door panels, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster that’s similar to what you’d find in the Raize, automatic climate control, wireless charging, electronic parking brake, and ambient LED lighting.
Toyota says that the Veloz will have a starting price of P1,185,000, which indicates that there will be more than one variant. More information about which features each variant will get will eventually be announced on April 29.
Like the Avanza, the 2022 Toyota Veloz will be powered by the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 106 hp and 137 Nm of torque. This drives the front wheels via a CVT.
Interestingly, Toyota is marketing the Veloz as a subcompact SUV. The Veloz will be unveiled at the BGC Amphitheater on April 29, and you’ll get to see it personally until May 1.
